Maker Faire Zagreb 2021!

Dear all, autumn has arrived and with it comes the third Maker Faire Zagreb, where you will be able to chase away the cold by taking part in workshops, socialising and discovering new ideas, thoughts, inventions and technical achievements.

Come to European Square from 2 to 3 October, each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

Admission to Maker Faire Zagreb is free.

Maker Faire is the largest family festival of invention, creativity, resourcefulness and entrepreneurship, held under the auspices of the Make Community organisation from the USA. Maker Faire is a gathering of technology enthusiasts of all ages: teachers, craftspeople, hobbyists, members of the scientific community, engineers, science clubs, artists, students and commercial exhibitors. It has been held internationally since 2006, and to date more than 200 different Maker Faire events have taken place around the world.

FabLab, the association for the promotion of digital fabrication, has for years taken an active part in Maker Faire events across Europe as a participant or exhibitor, and this year, at the beginning of October, it is bringing all of that international experience, those contacts and those ideas together at European Square, at the third Maker Faire Zagreb.

Our first Maker Faire Zagreb was held in 2019 at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum. It gathered almost 200 exhibitors from Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Serbia and all over Croatia, who presented more than 70 projects. Over 11,000 visitors of all ages saw and tried out the wide variety of technological discoveries, inventions and curiosities presented at the Technical Museum.

Maker Faire Zagreb is aimed at the general public and at the region as a whole. Last year, 2020, marked by the epidemic, Maker Faire Zagreb was held in a limited form in the courtyard of the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, with exhibitors presenting their work to all those interested through onlinevideo content.

This year our intention is to focus once again on physical presence and, in line with current epidemiological recommendations, to present a limited number of exhibitors and attractions at European Square on Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 October 2021, each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so that the public can experience the third Maker Faire Zagreb in person and in safe conditions.

The official opening of Maker Faire Zagreb for invited guests, the media and the public will take place on Saturday, 2 October 2021 at 12 noon at European Square.

Some of the exhibitors and attractions announced for this year’s Maker Faire:

University North with drones, the Faculty of Graphic Arts Zagreb with visual installations, Albert Gajšak and Circuitmess, Filip Hercih and Mundus, Scientific FabLab Trieste, Maker Education Collective, FabLab Belluno, the Zagreb Robotics Association, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture with the FSB formula car, Exoot AnimateK, Experience Lab Brno and others…

Maker Faire will be preceded by STEAM Week, dedicated to the education of teaching staff, running from 28 to 30 September. Of course, in line with how the epidemiological situation develops and how recommendations on curbing the spread of COVID-19 and on public events are updated, we will adapt the conditions of the event as necessary.

Come and join us in discovering the new and spreading knowledge!

This year again Maker Faire Zagreb is financially supported by the U.S. Embassy, for which we are very grateful.
