STEMerica goes on: a Museum Night full of science, play and discovery

The project “STEMerica goes on” brings exciting STEM workshops to Museum Night 2026, with the aim of encouraging curiosity, creativity and problem-solving in children through play, exploration and hands-on experience. The STEM activities are delivered within the “STEMerica goes on” project, organised by the FabLab association and following a STEM show format – dynamic, interactive and inspiring for our youngest participants.

Grobnik – heritage, art and knowledge

Date and time: 30 January 2026, from 18:00 to 23:00.

Address: Centre for Creativity and Science Outreach – Grad Grobnik, Trg Zrinskih i Frankopana 1

As part of the Museum Night Grobnik programme – heritage, art and knowledge, organised by the Grobnišćina Chapter of the Čakavian Assembly and the Municipality of Čavle, visitors can look forward to engaging STEM workshops through the project “STEMerica goes on”, with an emphasis on cryptography. Visitors will be able to take part in a STEM show where science is right at their fingertips through demonstrations and challenges that encourage logical thinking. A little school of cryptography teaches about the Enigma, secret messages and code-breaking, while in the forensics corner visitors will examine fingerprints and learn the basics of scientific investigation. Besides these educational activities, visitors will also be surprised by an exhibition of LEGO models showing creative combinations of technology, design and imagination – all alongside further attractions that will enrich the experience and provide fun for the whole family.

The workshops are designed so that children take an active part, ask questions, solve tasks and learn through experience. Using engaging cryptography exhibits and hands-on challenges, STEM content becomes understandable, fun and stimulating – ideal for first steps into the world of science and technology.

Zagreb – the science workshop “A Trace in the Ink”

Date and time: 30 January 2026, from 20:00 to 22:00.

Address: Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, Savska cesta 18, Zagreb.

As part of Museum Night organised by the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, the forensics workshop “A Trace in the Ink” will be held as part of the “STEMerica goes on” project. The workshop is interactive and fun, encouraging logical thinking, curiosity and teamwork, and scientific concepts are brought closer to children in an understandable and exciting way.

Children become little investigators and dive into the world of scientific investigation through two connected activities. Fingerprint analysis means learning about the uniqueness of fingerprints and linking traces to a fictional case. Paper chromatography means working out which pen was used to write a mysterious message.

The workshop is interactive and fun, encouraging logical thinking, curiosity and teamwork, and scientific concepts are brought closer to children in an understandable and exciting way.

STEM workshops tailored to children offer a fantastic opportunity to learn through play and exploration. Children will develop problem-solving skills while building logical thinking and creativity. These activities inspire future scientists, engineers and researchers, letting them have fun while they learn. On top of that, all the workshops are free and take place as part of Museum Night, creating the perfect setting for a family outing and for discovering the world of science together.

The project STEMerica goes on is delivered under the grant call “Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to promote STEM” (project reference SF.2.4.06.04.0122), co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus and by the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

See you in Grobnik and Zagreb  because science is at its most exciting when it is discovered together!
