Fab City Zagreb: two Resolution Earth actions and the Sljeme building clean-up
27/04/2025/
We are glad that FabLab Hrvatska is in some way involved not in just one but in two actions within the Resolution Earth campaign taking place today. On Friday, coordinated by the Institute of Entrepreneurial Education and Innovation, we delivered to the Kolektiv youth association from Metković part of the plastic recycling equipment from the BIOPLAnet project and a smaller CNC machine, which they will use to recycle the plastic collected today during the clean-up of the Neretva river. Today we joined the clean-up of the former administrative building of the Sljeme factory in Sesvete, at the invitation of the Sljeme za sve initiative and the Zelene i plave Sesvete association. We are glad that FabLab was the first to receive the keys a little over a year ago – on 2–5 January 2024, to be precise – and to start the work that has today resulted in the building being cleaned by a host of volunteers, and in everything that is yet to come there. Although for almost a decade, together with the University of Zagreb | Faculty of Architecture, we have been advocating the conversion of that building into the HUB_S community creative space – as witnessed by two Horizon 2020 projects, Progireg: Nature for Renewal and Centrinno EU Project – things are only now slowly starting to move. This clean-up is a precondition for holding Projekt Ilica: Q’ART – Social Processes in Sesvete on 23–25 May 2025, where we will take part and support the founding of Fablab Sesvete as a user of the future Fab City Hub Sesvete.
