At the invitation of the Technical Culture Association of the City of Dubrovnik, FabLab had the chance to visit Blato on the island of Korčula, where we held workshops at the Blato Cultural Centre. A group of some twenty children, in an inspiring historic setting right next to the venue, were shown skills ranging from robotics (DU STEM) and sustainability and the circular economy (BIOPLAnet) to, of course, digital fabrication (STEMerica).

Within the STEMerica project, young people had the chance to get to know digital fabrication, which is at the heart of FabLab and the focus of the STEMerica project. On Korčula specifically we demonstrated working with a vinyl cutter and made individual objects; alongside that, while the objects were being cut, we got the young participants interested in virtual reality using Oculus headsets and an app for 3D modelling and drawing in virtual space.
