Today we had the chance to host Erica and Vlad, who came from far away – all the way from FAB New Zealand. After the visit from FAB Argentina in February, then the students from France and the intern with us from Lebanon, today we hosted a team from probably the most distant destination of all! We exchanged experience, documented things and got ready for the global Fab25 conference, which starts at the end of the week in Brno and then moves to Prague. We had not even realised how much Croatia and New Zealand have in common; we talked about building local ecosystems for STEM as a driver of development, and about the wider social impact of maker culture, especially on smaller and remote places – which is exactly what we work on at FabLab Hrvatska and in Adriatic GreenLab. We will try to connect somehow, and perhaps even run something together, in two contexts in Croatia (the sea, the mountains and the plains) and likewise in New Zealand. We are looking forward to this collaboration!
