End of the Virtual Art and Culture project
On 24 March 2022 we are officially closing the Virtual Art and Culture project, carried out in partnership between the Hermes and FabLab associations. Over the 12 months of the project we worked with 22 primary schools from 18 places in 10 counties, and more than 600 primary school pupils took part in 53 workshops on the themes of the Sound, Water – Earth – Air, Cryptography and Forum Theatre cycles, as well as in two educational performances, Dancer Figures and Mover and Means of Transport – the Zagreb Tram.
The project came about as a response to the observed lack of availability and quality of informal extracurricular content in schools during online teaching caused by the global pandemic and by the series of earthquakes that hit parts of Croatia. Depriving pupils of additional extracurricular content at such a sensitive time could damage their social life and sense of belonging. Given those circumstances and the continuing need for informal educational content on culture, science and art, the idea for the Virtual Art and Culture project was born. Through interactive workshops, we delivered educational and – we hope – entertaining programmes in an informal way.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants and partners without whom we would not have managed to carry out the project activities – many thanks to the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum in Zagreb and to Zagreb Electric Tram (ZET), and to the following schools, their staff and pupils: “VEL_IK” IT Club (Velika Gorica), Antun Bauer Primary School Vukovar, Bartul Kašić Primary School Zadar, Bedekovčina Primary School, Bogumil Toni Primary School (Samobor), Borovje Primary School (Zagreb), Grigor Vitez Primary School (Zagreb), Ivan Kukuljević Sakcinski Primary School (Ivanec), Janko Leskovar Primary School (Pregrada), Julije Benešić Primary School Ilok, Laslovo Primary School, Miroslav Krleža Primary School (Čepin), Mladost Primary School (Osijek), Pavlek Miškina Primary School (Zagreb), Prečko Primary School (Zagreb), Šime Budinić Primary School (Zadar), Sirač Primary School, Špansko-Oranice Primary School (Zagreb), Stjepan Ilijašević Primary School (Oriovac), Stjepan Antolović Primary School (Privlaka), Suhopolje Primary School, Visoko Primary School and Tin Ujević Branch School Salinovec.
