Last week the EUROPEAN VULCA SEMINAR 2022 – FUNDÃO – PORTUGAL took place, this time in the picturesque little town of Fundão in Portugal. The Vulca seminars are part of the Vulca Tours, which enable makers across Europe and beyond to connect and build a self-sustaining community. Vulca strives for decentralisation and for highlighting the different categories of practice within Europe’s maker community. The seminar programme was rich in panels and round tables on various themes of maker culture and included a wealth of interactive sessions. Perhaps even more important than the debates, talks and hands-on parts themselves is precisely that focus on connecting individuals and organisations from a range of fields of interest and locations around the world. FabLab Zagreb, as part of the STEMerica project, also gave several talks – the association’s president, Roberto Vdović, spoke about the STEMerica project and about organising PopUpLab activities in rural areas of Croatia, fitting the project presentation into his talk “Makers mindset for selfsuficient remote areas”, while the association’s volunteer Mia Krakan gave a presentation on “Building creative confidence”. The president of our partner association the Institute of Entrepreneurial Education and Innovation, Zrinka Valetić, spoke about the BIOPLAnet project, with which we are always glad to work 🙂 With the traditional snacks of inland Portugal and interesting people, the seminar was an excellent experience and we are looking forward to the sixth Vulca Seminar to come! 😀 The project was co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund.
