International conference “Science Connecting People – building local ecosystems for STEM as a driver of development”
Building on its experience of working on activities across Croatia and on international projects, in 2024 FabLab was granted support by the National Foundation for Civil Society Development to carry out activities under the Thematic Systemic Support scheme for the area “STEM as a driver of development”. As part of these activities, from 26 to 28 September FabLab is organising the first in a series of international conferences under the name “SCOPE – Science Connecting People / Znanost spaja ljude”. It will be held on 26 September at the Europe House in Zagreb and on 27 September at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, and we take this opportunity to warmly thank our hosts and partners in delivering this project, as well as CARNET, the partner providing us with invaluable technical support. On the third day, 28 September, MAKER EXPO will be held at Središće Primary School in Zagreb as the “hands-on” part of the conference.
The official opening on the first day at the Europe House will be graced by Marko Pavić, MSc, envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and of the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament; Andrea Čović Vidović, envoy of the Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Tomislav Tomašević; Helena Beus, Deputy Head of the European Commission Representation and Head of Media; the Director of the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia; and envoys of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development.
One of the main goals of the project is to contribute to building local ecosystems for STEM as a driver of development. For that reason we work closely with the Association of Cities on delivering the project, and we invite towns and municipalities to further cooperation.
