Apologies to everyone following this page – things are simply happening too fast 🙂 A few updates From the very start we have had the support of Ultimaker, whose printers we use alongside the RepRap printers we assembled ourselves. The Ultimaker Original and Ultimaker 2 have a build volume of around 20x20x20 cm. Users, however, increasingly ask for larger dimensions. In terms of height that is possible with one of the delta-type 3D printers – we built one ourselves for prints up to about 40 cm (sadly it was dismantled for other worthy purposes). Over the past month we received several larger 3D printers for testing, with a build volume of up to 260x260x300 mm; some of them also have dual heads, which allows printing with two materials or in two colours. Some photographs, comments and impressions will follow soon… Besides the 3D printers, we received test material from the Dutch company ColorFabb, which alongside their own classic PLA also make PLA XT filament, a kind of polyester blend. We paid particular attention to special materials such as those with copper or bronze powder, and we were also impressed by XT-CF20, which contains carbon fibre.
