The Prvić project “Our children for our children” presented in Greece as part of the Adriatic GreenLab initiative
Antonia Dobrota of the Otok association from the island of Prvić presented the project “Our children for our children” (OC2OC) in Greece as the first project of its kind, recognised as part of the wider Adriatic GreenLab initiative – an initiative of the FabLab Croatia Association, focused on empowering local communities through creativity, innovation and sustainable development.
“Our children for our children” fits the values of Adriatic GreenLab because it puts the emphasis on children as active participants in the community, on intergenerational learning, on preserving local identity, and on connecting knowledge, spaces and people. Projects like this form the foundation of Adriatic GreenLab, which, together with local stakeholders, develops models of self-sustaining, resilient and creative communities, particularly in the island and rural areas of the Mediterranean.
As part of the Adriatic GreenLab framework, the project ties in thematically with the New European Bauhaus for the Mediterranean, promoting the values of sustainability, inclusion and quality of life. It is also in line with the goals of the Mediterranean Makers Initiative, which encourages local production, creative work and the transfer of knowledge within communities.
Presenting the project in Greece confirms the international relevance of the Adriatic GreenLab initiative and the importance of networking Mediterranean and island communities through the exchange of experience and good practice. Examples like this show how initiatives that come out of a local context can, with strong support from FabLab Croatia, become recognised models at European level.
