The Mediterranean is more than geography. It is a space of people, heritage, creativity and resilience. It is from that spirit that the Mediterranean Makers initiative was born – a new collaborative network connecting makers, designers, educators, creative hubs and local communities all around the Mediterranean.
🔹 Adriatic GreenLab (https://agl.fablab.hr/) goes a step further – from the Adriatic towards the whole Mediterranean.
At a moment when the Pact for the Mediterranean (M-PACT) and the values of the New European Bauhaus put people, sustainability and resilience at the centre of development, this initiative recognises the Mediterranean as a bridge between Europe and Africa, and also as a space where innovation often emerges outside the big cities.
🏝️ We put the focus on islands, rural areas, small towns and remote regions – communities that are often overlooked, yet carry enormous knowledge, creativity and potential for sustainable solutions.
🤝 The Mediterranean Makers Initiative is founded on:
• inclusiveness and participation
• open sharing of knowledge
• intergenerational cooperation
• locally rooted and long-term sustainable approaches
📜 This is not a finished project but an open process of co-creation.
The first step is the Mediterranean Makers Manifesto – an invitation to define priorities, challenges and future collaborations together, from local pilot projects to wider Mediterranean partnerships.
👉 We invite makers, labs, educators, institutions, municipalities and communities to join us in creating a more resilient, more creative and better-connected Mediterranean – one in which communities actively shape their own future.
