Processes that are changing our approach to textiles and fashion, and a photo gallery / (ttf.unizg.hr)

For several years now FabLab Zagreb has been working with Prof. Helena Schultheis Edgeler and students of the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb on biomaterials and digital fabrication – also the subject of the BIOPLAnet project, on which we likewise collaborated.

Since last year we have been directing part of the Fab City Zagreb activities towards the Zagreb Open University (POU Zagreb), with whom we have already had several collaborations in 2025. First, an exhibit from the STEMerica project (delivered between 2021 and 2023), previously displayed in the atrium of the Zagreb City Administration building, was installed at POU Zagreb. We then organised a WBDS (Western Balkans Design Sprint) workshop there with representatives from Indiana University, attended by some 20 teachers from the region, and finally the public event Maker Expo Zagreb 2025.

Hosting this exhibition at POU Zagreb is part of a collaboration that should culminate in the opening of the Fab City Zagreb Experience Lab at POU Zagreb, as part of a year-round programme of cultural and educational content around Fab City themes.

Involving POU Zagreb in our activities is part of the work on creating local ecosystems that FabLab carries out through the “Thematic Systemic Support for STEM as a driver of development” scheme of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development.
