The Fab City Europe Network Gathering was held in Ljubljana
As a prelude to the 𝑼𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 conference (an international gathering that brings together the world most enthusiastic urban planners, city leaders and changemakers), the 𝐅𝐚𝐛 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 was held in Ljubljana at Center Rog, organised by the Fab City Global initiative.
On 24 March 2026 Fab City Zagreb was represented by Roberto Vdović, on behalf of FabLab Zagreb and the University of Zagreb | Faculty of Architecture as the core partners of the initiative.
The gathering brought together representatives of Fab City and Fab Region initiatives from across Europe to exchange experience and define the next steps in developing local production ecosystems – from city-level strategies to the concrete spaces and programmes that make local production, learning and community collaboration possible.
This was another chance to share experience of developing the local innovation ecosystems that FabLab runs in Croatia – in an urban context through the 𝐅𝐚𝐛 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐙𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐛 initiative, and in rural and remote areas through Adriatic GreenLab – with an emphasis on local community development, production, the circular economy and the distribution of knowledge.
The regional gathering was held alongside the Urban Future 2026 conference, one of the leading European events dedicated to sustainable cities, which brings together more than 2,000 participants – urban planners, architects, researchers and innovators working on developing more resilient urban systems.
Connecting through the Fab City Europe network enables a continuous exchange of experience and the development of concrete projects that contribute to transforming cities towards a model in which more is produced locally and knowledge is shared globally. 👌🏻
