Strategic partnership – Radiona.org & FabLab.hr

Radiona – Association for the Development of ‘Do-It-Yourself’ Culture and FabLab – Association for the Promotion of Digital Fabrication have decided to enter into a joint strategic partnership focused on the development of hybrid and intermedia practices, DIY and maker culture, and on building an educational foundation for ethical and sustainable entrepreneurship in technology.

Radiona.org has been active since 2011 within the Student Centre, and since 2013 as an independent organisation, bringing together art, science and technology through the prism of education, exhibition activity and international collaborative projects across numerous sections and partner projects; in 2015 it became a designated space for culture with the support of the Kultura nova Foundation. Initially established in an international context, over time it has turned towards cooperation with the local community and with the Croatian and regional scene.

FabLab, the association for the promotion of digital fabrication, was founded in 2013 in Zagreb. FabLab is the first association of its kind in this part of Europe and one of several hundred similar laboratories in the FabLab database; it is part of the international FabLab organisation, founded on an idea originating at MIT. FabLab works on developing international cooperation programmes and on involving different age and social groups in its work – from young people and the unemployed to persons with reduced mobility – all with the aim of providing them with additional training for self-employment or employment.

The goal of the strategic partnership is to work on developing the DIY scene within the fields both associations are engaged in, without overlapping or duplicating content, but instead through joint and collaborative projects that will follow the dynamics of technological development, of educational practices and of their possibilities in practical application.
