Fab City Zagreb at the Fab City Europe Network Gathering in Ljubljana

As a lead-in to the conference 𝑼𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒏 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (an international gathering bringing together the world’s most enthusiastic urbanists, city leaders and changemakers) – the 𝐅𝐚𝐛 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 was held in Ljubljana at Center Rog, organised by the Fab City Global Initiative. On 24 March 2026 Fab City Zagreb was represented by Roberto Vdović, on behalf of Fablab Zagreb and the University of Zagreb | Faculty of Architecture as the initiative’s core partners. The gathering brought together representatives of Fab City and Fab Region initiatives from across Europe, to exchange experience and define the next steps in developing local production ecosystems – from city-level strategies to concrete spaces and programmes that enable local production, learning and cooperation in the community. It was another chance to share the experience of developing local innovation ecosystems that Fablab pursues in Croatia – in the urban context through the Fab City Zagreb initiative, and in rural and remote areas through Adriatic GreenLab – with an emphasis on local community development, production, the circular economy and the distribution of knowledge. The theme of building local ecosystems is pursued by FabLab through the “Thematic Systemic Support for STEM as a driver of development” of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development The regional gathering ran in parallel with the Urban Future 2026 conference, one of Europe’s leading events on sustainable cities, which brings together more than 2,000 people – urbanists, architects, researchers and innovators working on more resilient urban systems. Connecting through the Fab City Europe network makes possible a continuous exchange of experience and the development of concrete projects that help transform cities towards a model in which more is produced locally and knowledge is shared globally. 👌🏻 (ig: @fabcityzagreb) (ig: @adriaticgreenlab)
