First activities of 2024! After 8 years of involvement in the HUB_S idea and 3 years of requests, from 2 to 5 January 2024 FabLab Hrvatska has been given temporary use of part of the former administrative building of the one-time Sljeme factory, the future innovative community centre in Sesvete. Networking activities are under way, and from 10 o’clock we have the keys too. Our thanks go to Visnja Kljajic, who has persistently supported us, and to her friends who are helping prepare the space and the programme; to Mladen Vidovic, with whom we have been working for some time and to whom we are especially grateful for the help with Maker Faire Zagreb this year. We also have the support of the Green and Blue Sesvete association, whose logistics we will use as well, given how close they are. We hope, although the notice is short, that a few more Sesvete stakeholders will join us, such as the Museum of Prigorje or the Sesvete Open University, and others who perhaps not this time but in future can help fill out the content that creates and strengthens Sesvete’s innovation community, no matter which direction they come from. There are also our close associations – the Institute of Entrepreneurial Education and Innovation with the BIOPLAnet project, the Fablabhr.net network, Fablab’s STEMerica and SCOPE projects, and especially Centrinno EU Project, which is devoted to thinking through exactly this kind of FabCity Hub space in cooperation with the University of Zagreb | Faculty of Architecture – as well as our other partners. But to repeat, we give the spark, the impetus, the support – and we invite interested individuals and groups from Sesvete, from art, culture and science (STEAM), and from traditional crafts, the circular economy and the like, to get in touch.
