Programming the future: DFA Module 4 – Smart Interactions in Slavonia

The FabLab association, working with its members and with the support of the INNCRO-IT association, is continuing the Designing the Future Academy (DFA) workshops in Slavonia as part of the DiSTT – Digital Skills Transformation for Tomorrow project! 🔧💡

This week, together with 18 grammar-school pupils, we moved into Module 4 – Smart Interactions and took a real step towards the world of smart systems. By revising and building on earlier material we consolidated the basics of the (DC) electrical circuit, conductors and insulators and safe working practice, and then moved on to the most exciting part: microcontrollers, sensors and programming.

Participants got their first hands-on contact with the Arduino environment – they saw what a sketch looks like, what setup() and loop() are and how a program is uploaded to a device, and through simple tasks they began controlling functions on a microcontroller (the first steps towards interactive prototypes!).

A big thank you to the pupils for their energy, curiosity and the great atmosphere – it is a pleasure to work with young people who are not afraid to ask, to try, to get it wrong and then learn even more.
Special thanks to Matija Mesić Grammar School and all the school staff for their hospitality and for the chance to build young people digital and technical competences together on your premises.

The next sessions are already scheduled for next week – we cannot wait for the continuation and for the new ideas the pupils will turn into functional prototypes! 💪
